Ana Gabrielle Alcantara completed her bachelors and master in Biology degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She had been given the DOST-ASTHRDP scholarship in support of her academic goals. Her research interests center around the bioacoustics and behavioral ecology of Philippine endemic birds, demonstrating her dedication to the study of the country's unique biodiversity.
In addition to her research work, she devotes her time to various extracurricular activities. She contributes to the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines eBON online newsletter as well as help out in guided bird trips and Asian Waterbird Census. For her research ventures, she is collaborating with researchers across Southeast Asia in order to monitor migratory birds across the East Asian-Australasian Flyway using passive acoustics monitoring.
She currently works as a Science Research Assistant under the research laboratory here in the Institute of Biology. Despite her busy schedule, she finds ways to balance her academic pursuits with her interests and passions beyond the laboratory and field.
